You expand further into my space.

The micrometres between us aren’t enough for you.

I feign exasperation; quietly relishing your warmth.

If only I could freeze this moment.

If only I could freeze just, you and I, within these four walls.

I could spend an eternity here.

I wouldn’t need to eat.

The sound of your voice, the touch of your skin – I could survive from that alone.

So, how can I possibly feel so alone in the midst of perfection?

As I stare into your soul, I become brutally aware that this moment cannot last.

I count each blink praying for divine intervention, knowing it will not come.

I freeze.

Not the moment, not us.

Just me.

I can’t move.

My heart is racing. I can’t let go.

But I will.
